Dear Mr. Durbin:
During the past two weeks, my mother Rozella Carter, was a respite patient in the memory care neighborhood of RobinBrooke. Our experience with the staff in all areas was truly amazing. Many organizations speak of a culture of caring; RobinBrooke staff members demonstrate these kindness, patientfamily-centeredness, and “happy to do" values in every encounter or request.
As someone who previously worked in healthcare organizational development, I know that this culture only can be developed by effective leadership which not only teaches but, more importantly, models these behaviors. Such is the case with, among others: Pat Cranmer, executive director; Deborah Sellers, RN, RobinBrooke nurse; and Sonja Vanderville, leader of Open Arms Memory Care Neighborhood. These values were apparent from the introductory lunch, during which each leader, sat with us and introduced my mother to each staff member that would be serving her and also to some residents who welcomed her. Although she did not stay at RobinBrooke, she opined that the people, the neighborhood, and the facility program were “wonderful."
